Port Blair, Oct. 11: Shri. Suneel Anchipaka, Secretary (RD/Panchayat) inaugurated the DDU-GKY Training Center of the Program Implementing Agency (PIA)- Nalanda Educational Society on 11.10.2022, in the presence of Dr. Vijay Shardha Reddy, CEO of the PIA; Shri. Radhey Shyam Meena, Director (RD/Panchayat); Smt. Neha Gupta, Mission Manager State Partnership, MoRD; Shri. Santosh Kumar, Programme Manager, NIRDPR and the State Team of DDU-GKY.

The training center is one of its kind opened first time in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for skill development trainings of the rural youth of the Islands.

The training center is equipped with IT lab facility, Domain & Non-Domain classrooms, Placement & Counseling Units, separate hostel facility for male and female candidates, in-door recreational activities, etc. The TOT certified trainers for Domain and Non-Domain trades are engaged to fulfill the training needs of candidates. The training center has the capacity to train 105 candidates at a time.

Dr. Vijay Shardha Reddy, CEO, Nalanda Educational Society informed that they will commence training on Field Technician Computing and Peripherals for the first batch of 70 candidates from 17th October, 2022 against the total target of 488 candidates under DDU-GKY project sanctioned to them and subsequently come up with more training pogrammes.

The Program Implementing Agency (PIA)-Nalanda Educational Society has been selected for imparting training as per the guidelines and verification by MoRD under DDU-GKY Scheme.

The Secretary (RD/Panchayat) appreciating the efforts of the PIA to open first ever residential DDU-GKY training center at Port Blair has requested the PIA to put in best efforts to ensure quality skill development training of the rural youth of the Islands and subsequently their suitable placement. He insisted the PIA to also look into the accommodation facilities for the candidates along with the trainings. He also requested the PIA to seek the support and cooperation of the PRI members for mobilization of maximum number of rural youths to avail the benefit under the scheme.

Subsequently, study materials were distributed by the dignitaries to the candidates. The Director (RD/Panchayat) requested the PIA to ensure fulfillment of all the norms of the DDU-GKY guidelines so as to have best skill development trainings for the rural youth of the Islands and assured the PIA that all necessary support shall be extended to them as and when required so as to have effective implementation of DDU-GKY Scheme in this UT.
