Port Blair, Oct. 13: The Model Career Centre (Employment Exchange) in association with the Directorate of Industries and A&NI Khadi & Village Industries Board organised a Rozgar evam Swarozgar Mela in the Community Hall of Gram Panchayat Tushnabad today. Shri Balwan Singh Jaglan, IAS, Secretary (Labour, Employment and Training) chief guest of the programme while addressing the gathering elucidated that the main objective of the Rozgar evam Swarozgar Mela is to facilitate a platform between the private employers and jobseekers and also to extend platform between self-employment implementing departments and unemployed youth who wish to set up self-employment ventures for their livelihood.

Shri Radhey Shyam Meena, Director (RD) who was the guest of honour expounded that the Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India has launched several self- employment schemes such as Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) for the benefit of Rural Youth and requested all the participants to avail self-employment schemes. Shri K. Srinivasa Rao, Director (Employment & Training) and Shri Rajendra Pal, Block Development Officer also spoken on the occasion. The Pradhan and PRI members of Tushnabad, Chouldari, Ferrargunj, Namunaghar, Collinpur and Mithakhari were also present. Shri Anand Amrit Raj, Pradhan, Tushnabad welcomed the gathering and acknowledged the efforts of the Department for organizing Rozgaar and Swarozgaar Mela and appealed the gathering to utilise the self-employment schemes being offered by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries, Industries, A&N Khadi & Village Industries Board, DDU-GKY Training Partners, CRISIL Foundation Organisation SBI and job being offered by Private Employers. Altogether 300 prospective rural youth from Tushnabad, Chouldari, Ferrargunj, Namunaghar, Collinpur and Mithakhari Gram Panchayat benefited from the programme.
