Port Blair, Oct. 13: The Department of Home Science, JNRM, in association with the Port Blair Municipal Council (PBMC) organised a Three days “Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP)” in JNRM for the beneficiaries under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM). The valedictory function for the EDP was held on 13th February 2022 in Lecture Gallery, JNRM. Shri. B.Senthil Kumar, IDAS, Joint Controller of Defence Accounts, ANC, Ministry of Defence graced the occasion as Chief Guest.  

Addressing the gathering Senthil Kumar congratulated the efforts taken by the Department of Home Science for arranging such programme with series of eminent lectures under the topic of deliberation. Financial Independence is vital in decision making at household level which in turn will pave the way for holistic development. The Government of India is supporting the entrepreneurs through various schemes and subsidies for the upliftment of poor people, he added.

Dr. H.K. Sharma, Principal, JNRM, said that the vision and success of this programme is purely depend on the utilisation by the participants for the economic empowerment by involving various entrepreneurial activities. Further skill based upgradation training would be provided to the upcoming entrepreneurs, he added.

Dr.  K. Venkatesan, HOD, Home Science and Coordinator of this programme spoke about the opportunities available under DAY-NULM for the budding entrepreneurs. He has also highlighted the village level adoption programme and various EDP training organised by the Department of Home Science earlier viz. Pickle, Jam, Jelly making, Food Processing, Ready to eat nutritious foods etc.

Dr. Kandimuthu, Assistant Professor (Economics) spoke on the marketing strategies and commercialisation of local products under the banner of one product one village scheme. Earlier Smt. Nidhi Shekhawat Assistant Professor of Home Science welcomed the gathering and Dr. Rekha Kumari, Resource Person, Department of Home Science proposed vote of thanks.
