Port Blair, Oct. 14: R Vineeth an island boy has created history by becoming the first mountaineer from A&N Islands. Born on 28th Sept 1997 to Shri. Ramachandran and Smti. R Pandiyan Kumari in Port Blair, Vineeth attempted to scale Mt. Deo Tibba located in Kullu District, Himachal Pradesh at a height of 6001 mtrs above sea level on 10th Oct 2022.

Mt. Deo Tibba is considered to be a technical peak with moderate level difficulty. It is the 2nd highest peak of Pir Pangal range. Vineeth, along with other team members from various parts of India and abroad climbed 5670 mtrs and were unable to proceed further due to heavy snowstorm and rain. Henceforth, the summit was left incomplete by 331 mtrs.

The boy who completed his schooling in commerce stream in 2015 and was pursuing graduation from ANCOL, left college in 2017 to serve the nation. He had his interest in mountains since his early childhood and started his expeditions in 2019. In his early days he explored a lot of mountains in Himalayan ranges in alpine style.

For his recent attempt to summit Mt. Deo Tibba, he said, “I’ll not consider this as my failure, because no one can fight against the nature. Nature is beyond all the power. This is not going to demotivate me. Infact this is just the beginning”. His dreams are not limited to this and he has bigger plans in the future in his mountaineering journey.
