Port Blair, Oct. 19: Shri Vishal Jolly National Executive Member BJP & Former State President, BJP A&N Islands has requested to grant adequate compensation to the fire accident victims that took place at Aerial Bay, Diglipur, North & Middle Andaman District through a letter addressed to Lt. Governor, ANI & Chief Secretary, A & N Administration today. 

In his letter, he wrote that today reportedly 09 shops belonging to few poor shopkeepers were gutted in a fire accident that took place at Aerial Bay, Diglipur. Some of them were vegetable vendors, few were running ration shops, hotel, phone recharge shop etc.

As the fire was huge & enormous, all the nine shops were gutted in fire & nothing could be saved.

Further he added that the shop vendors have lost their livelihood completely as reportedly they had these shops being their only sources of income.

The following are the names and details of those shop vendors that has been reported to me:

  1. Shri. Tapan Das - Clothes Store.
  2. Shri. Alok Baroi - Cool drink & Snacks shop.
  3. Shri. Parakhit Das - Phone recharge shop.
  4. Shri. Sukumar Das - Vegetables shop.
  5. Shri. Subal Kirtonia - Hotel.
  6. Shri. Sailen Das - Ration & Hardware shop.
  7. Shri. Pradip Das - Hotel.
  8. Shri. Ravi Biswas - Ration shop.
  9. Shri. K. Srinivasan - Ration shop.

Considering the apparent damages that has been caused and also considering the losses they have suffered due to this unfortunate & disastrous tragedy; he requested to make early assessment of damages caused due to the fire and grant them adequate compensation.
