Port Blair, Oct. 19: The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, along with Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SA), Shri Rahul Dev Boora, IAS (Probationer), Shri Vinayak Chamadia, IAS (Probationer) and Tehsildar, Port Blair visited the areas predominantly inhabited by Ranchi community such as Ranchi Basti, Attam Pahad, Mahaveer Nagar. The Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council and concerned Ward Councilors also accompanied.

During the visit, the DC (SA) interacted with the residents at Lambaline village. Various issues were raised such as construction of new community hall, construction of black top road connecting VKV Nagar Palika school and Jawahar Colony, School Line village, Renovation of Balwadi, Maintenance of community toilets, trimming of trees nearby VKV Nagar Palika school. DC (SA) inspected all the spots and gave a patient hearing to all their grievances and assured them of its early disposal. DC (SA) has requested the ward councilor to put forth a proposal for construction of black top road under Central Road Fund (CRF).

At Attam Pahad village the residents raised issues related to non-functioning of street lights, widening of footpaths, allotment of land for playground, replacement of old pipelines. DC (SA) issued directions to the revenue field staff to identify suitable land for playground along with youths of the village and to put forth proposal of road under CRF and pipeline under AMRUT 2.0. Thereafter, DC (SA) visited Birsa Munda memorial at Attam Pahad and requested the ward councilor to place signage board depicting the memorial.

Thereafter, DC (SA) visited the low lying area of Mahaveer Nagar, Prothrapur and interacted with the general public. The residents raised issues related to drinking water, electricity, surrender of land for road, proper maintenance of drainage, bus connectivity for school going children, construction of Anganwadi and construction of drains to which DC (SA) assured them to sort out the issues at the earliest.

It is pertinent to mention that special focus was given to all the above mentioned areas during COVID times for ration disbursal and few months ago DC (SA) along with SDM (SA) had visited the localities with regards to complaints received regarding LPG distribution.

The District Administration is committed for the welfare and overall development of South Andaman District and the District Administration requests the public to come forward with genuine issues related to development of their area.
