Port Blair, Oct. 21: In pursuance of order passed by Hon'ble Supreme Court of India on 29-10-2021 in the matter of LA. No. 44727/2021 in Writ Petition (Civil) No.728 of 2015 titled as Arjun Gopal and others -vs- Union of India and others (Firecrackers case), the directions issued by Hon'ble Supreme Court are reiterated below for compliance by the general public:

The crackers with reduced emission (improved crackers) and green crackers with QR code would be permitted to be manufactured and sold.

The manufacture, sale and use of joined firecrackers (series crackers or laris) is hereby banned as the same causes huge air, noise and solid waste problems.

No e-commerce websites, including Flipkart, Amazon, etc., shall accept any online orders and effect online sales. Any such e-commerce companies found selling crackers online will be hauled up for contempt of court and the Court may also pass, in that eventuality, orders of monetary penalties as well.

Firecrackers with Barium salts is banned.

On Diwali days or on any other festivals like Gurupurab etc., when such fireworks generally take place, it would strictly be from 8 pm till 10 pm only. On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, when such fireworks start around midnight i.e., 12 am, it would be from 11.55 pm till 12.30 am only.

Nobody would be permitted to flout and/or disobey the directions issued by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India. Any willful and deliberated disobedience will be viewed very seriously and action as deems fit will be taken against the violators by the enforcement agencies.
