Port Blair, Oct. 27: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands to resolve the long pending issues/grievances of villagers of Campbell Bay Gram Panchayat.

In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor the Member of Parliament mentioned that during his recent tour to Campbell Bay, Great Nicobar, the PRI members of Campbell Bay met him and presented some burning issues/grievances.

The issues are to conduct re-survey for including families under BPL category (i.e. PHH) as no survey has been conducted since many years and many people entitled to get benefits of various scheme as per their financial status are unable avail the benefits due to non-availability of BPL (i.e. PHH) cards.

To issue Smart Islanders Cards in place of the existing old one by deputing concerned departmental staff.

Filling up of earth at the low level revenue area (submerged land) affected due to Tsunami 2004.

Timely supply of LPG cylinders to the Great Nicobar Islands atleast once in every month, whereas LPG cylinders are being provided once in three months.

Installation of LED lights at Mini stadium, Campbell Bay for promotion of sports and games activities of youths.

Electricity connections to the newly constructed residential houses at Babu Line, Indira Nagar, Kamal Basthi under Campbell Bay Gram Panchayat for domestic use. Applications submitted by the individuals have been pending since the last 05 years.  As of now, electricity is one of the basic needs for human beings for all purposes including children education etc. Therefore, providing electricity connection for domestic use may be considered.

Grant of 1/30th Pay + DA to the DRMs working in the establishments of PRI and other departments in Campbell Bay since many years.

The Member of Parliament requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor to examine and resolve these crucial issues.
