Port Blair, Nov.17: The Directorate of Industries, A&N Administration organized a short term Skill Development Training Programme on ‘Handicrafts (Coconut Shell, Wood and Cane & Bamboo) products’ at Stewartgunj, Gram Panchayat from 12th October, 2022 to 17th November, 2022. Altogether, 21 candidates participated in the training programme and were imparted the basic skills and knowledge for making handicrafts, thus creating self-employment opportunities for boosting the economy of Islands.
The training programme concluded today with a valedictory function during which handicraft products produced during the training were showcased and the trainees received appreciation from PRI representatives and the villagers.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri M.K. Hussain, Pradhan, Stewartgunj, Gram Panchayat appreciated the handicraft products made by the trainees and advised them to apply the skills obtained during the course of the training program for the betterment of their livelihood.
