Port Blair, Nov. 17: NABARD, Andaman and Nicobar Regional Office is conducting a six day training programme on natural farming from 14th to 19th November 2022 in two batches for farmers of South Andaman, and North and Middle Andaman. The first batch consisted of 30 farmers from South Andaman. The training for the second batch of 30 farmers from North and Middle Andaman was inaugurated today by Shri Pankaj Kumar, IAS, Secretary, Department of Agriculture, A&N Administration and Dr E. B. Chakurkar, Director, CIARI was the guest of honour.

The faculty members from Kamalnayan Jamanalal Bajaj Foundation, Wardha, Maharashtra conducted the programme. They explained the importance of natural farming and how it reduces the cost of cultivation and increases productivity of the soil and thereby improves income of the farmers. Natural Farming techniques also helps in production of chemical free and safe to eat vegetables/grains. The farmers were given one day practical training on various components of natural farming like Jeevamrut, Beejamrut, Agneystra, etc. during the field demonstration conducted at KVK, Sippighat.
