Port Blair, Nov. 17: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association & CITU, A&N Islands jointly organized a remembrance meeting on 16.11.2022 at Crusade House to commemorate the 16th Death Anniversary of Comrade Pious D’silva, former President of NGOs’ Association and CITU.

Com. Pious was one of the leaders of the Association who was associated with the government employees and trade union movement in Andaman & Nicobar Islands during 80s and 90s. The meeting started by paying floral tributes on the photo of Com. Pious.

Shri B. Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU remembered his contribution towards the workers and labourers during his period as the leader of CITU and urged to follow his path in life.

Shri P. Sathyapal, former President, NGOs’ Association also recalled his valuable role in fighting for the rights of government employees in these Islands and asked the younger generation to try to inculcate the habit of thinking in a positive manner and helping others in life.

Addressing the members, NGOs’ Association, General Secretary, Shri R. Rajendran remembered the works of Com. Pious in organizing various programmes of the Association and his selfless dedication in resolving the issues of the government employees and workers of these islands.

Earlier, Shri S.L.Vinjit, Asst. General Secretary welcomed members in the meeting. Shri R. Surendran Pillai, President CITU, Shri S.P. Kalai Rajan, Vice President, CITU, Shri P. Jay Murthy, Secretary, SATB and Shri Shiva Kumar, Vice President, JNRM Sub-Committee also expressed their views while recalling the contributions of Com. Pious D’silva. A good number of members attended the remembrance meeting.
