Diglipur, Nov. 28: A health awareness camp was organised today by CHC Diglipur in Swaraj Gram in collaboration with Radhanagar Gram Panchayat, in accordance with the observation of National Cancer Awareness week and World's AIDS day (1dec). The aim was to step up cancer and HIV literacy and knowledge among the population.

Detailed information was provided regarding Breast Cancer, Cervical Cancer, Oral and Lung Cancer to make people aware of the dangers of chewing tobacco and smoking. Self-breast examination for early detection of breast cancers was also taught. Awareness about AIDS with a view to disseminate information regarding primary prevention and control services, developing an understanding about the infection to reduce stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/ AIDS and measures to be taken to prevent it. People were also given detailed information about Dulari Scheme.

The event was concluded with a multi-speciality camp, including NCD screening, diagnosis, treatment and medicine distribution to all the beneficiaries. A total of 35 people were examined and treated in health camp. One male aged 32 was diagnosed with oral cancer and has been referred to G.B Pant Hospital for further investigation and treatment.
