Port Blair, Nov. 29: As a part of the observance of Vasectomy Fortnight, a State Level awareness programme along with NCD (Non Communicable Diseases) screening camp was organized by the Directorate of Health Services, A & N Administration in association with Union Territory Health Mission, A & N Islands at Police Line, Drill Hall for Police personnel today. Shri R K Sharma, DSP (AP) was the chief guest of the programme. Dr. Deepak Kumar, Associate Professor Community Medicine, ANIIMS addressed the gathering on myths involved with Vasectomy and said that despite tremendous progress women still majorly shoulder the responsibility of Family Planning.

Dr. Amrita Burma, Assistant Professor Community Medicine (ANIIMS), elaborated on the procedures of Vasectomy operation, and urged the gathering to enhance male participation in family planning & condom usage.

A skit was performed by the Interns of ANIIMS/UHTC Haddo. Dr. Shirley P. Senior Resident Community Medicine, ANIIMS, Dr. Robin C Oommen State Programme Coordinator, NPCDCS were also present.   More than 85 participants attended the programme and were screened for NCD.

Earlier, Shri Solomon Samuel, Inspector (RI) welcomed the gathering.
