Launches Potential Linked Credit Plan 2023-24 for A&N Islands

Port Blair, Nov. 30: NABARD Andaman & Nicobar Regional Office, Port Blair organized a UT level Credit Seminar today and launched the Potential Linked Credit Plan (PLP) 2023-24 for U T of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Shri C Arvind, Secretary, Finance was the chief guest on the occasion. Shri Suman Bakshi, RM, SBI was the guest of honour.

Potential for Priority Sector Lending for the financial year 2023-24 was estimated to the tune of Rs. 1032.23 crore. Potential for Farm Credit (including crop production and term loan for agriculture) was assessed at Rs. 234.51 crore, Agriculture Infrastructure at Rs. 14.70 crore, Ancillary Activities at Rs 26.40 crore, MSME at Rs. 560.29 crore, Export Credit at Rs. 63.75 crore, Education at Rs. 5.85 crore, Housing at Rs. 101.41 crore, Renewable Energy at Rs. 0.62 crore and Social Infrastructure involving bank credit at Rs.7.08 crore.

The major thrust areas of the PLP are promotion of Hi-tech agriculture, formation and linkage of Farmer Producer Organizations, doubling of farmers’ income, capital formation in agriculture, creation of infrastructure for fisheries, and climate change adaptation.

Shri H Manoj, General Manager/OIC, NABARD, while delivering the special address deliberated upon the objective of preparing the document, its methodology and its utility for the bankers, Administration, line Departments and the Islanders.  He also highlighted NABARD’s key interventions during the current FY 22-23 which includes submission of GI application for Nicobari craft and Andaman Coconut and Rice, etc, SHG bank linkage programme, promotion of FPOs and dissemination of digital literacy awareness in every nook and corner of the Islands, PACS computerization, etc.

A convergence meet was also organized during the seminar to showcase and upscale the successful projects supported by NABARD and implemented by ICAR-CIARI. Scientists made a presentation on their innovative projects viz. Hump Sore Trimodel Therapy, Quail Farming and boosting immunity through growing herbs in urban and peri-urban areas.
