Port Blair, Dec. 9: A two-day Quality Management System training and one-day Review Meeting of facility level staff was organized by the Basic Services Division of A&N AIDS Control Society in association with SAATHII, Chennai from 6th -8th Dec. 2022 in the conference hall of Department of Industries, Port Blair.

The program was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. Ruby Thomas, Associate Professor, ANIIMS, A&N Administration by lighting the traditional lamp. In her address, the Chief Guest emphasized on early detection of HIV case by qualitative testing. Now it’s 36 years of journey and we are trying our level best to end AIDS by 2030. At this point, we cannot be complacent as there is lot more to be done and it can only happen by working together.

The goal of the training is to provide qualitative services to the clients through the Training module on Overview of Quality Management System; Laboratory diagnosis of HIV Infection; National HIV Testing strategies; Quality System Essentials; Blood Collection; Storage & transport, Facility and safety; Process control and process improvement; External quality assessment; DBS collection & transportation and ICTC QMS Assessment checklist

The resource person Dr. Monalisa Majumdar, Dr. Sameer Shinde, Mr. Karthick Bharathy from SAATHII and Dr. PK Sikdar from ANACS imparted training and conducted review meeting under the guidance of Dr. Munni Singhania, Vice Chairperson ANACS. The program was technically supported by Miss Lakshya, Smt. Sheela Kumari, Mr Kaushik Kumar. Halder and John Peter.

A total of 46 numbers of staff were trained. The participants were Lab. Technicians, Counselors, Staff Nurse and Health Workers from 13 SA-ICTC; 24 FICTC; 1 DSRC; 1 FARTC and 1 Blood Bank.

Earlier, the Chief Guest and the dignitaries were given a green welcome. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Shri S Senthil Nathan, AD (CST) soon after which certificates were distributed to the participants.
