Girls advised to have high moral values to achieve goals in life
Dilgipur, Dec 9: An awareness programme on ‘Adolescence Challenges’ was held today at Government Model Senior Secondary School Sitanagar. The invited experts from the different departments expressed their opinion on the topic, stressing upon the important aspects. Addressing the girls, the resource person from the Community Health Centre Diglipur, Dr. Shipra said that Adolescence is a very crucial period in one’s life. During this phase the student goes through tremendous emotional turmoil. She said the student should accept the natural physical changes the body goes through during this period.
There is a need to be emotionally balanced to deal with the different situations in life, she said. Calling upon the girls to excel in life, she said they should keep their minds focussed towards achieving their goals, working hard in their studies. Citing her own example, she said she is an alumnus of this rural school and the Institution had played an instrumental role in shaping her life. The Health Officer stressed the need of taking care of their health and hygiene during this growing stage.
The Ayurvedic Physician, Dr. Habiba spoke about the hormonal changes the girls experience during adolescent age. She said they should imbibe healthy moral values to develop their personalities. This is the age when they should set positive feasible goals for their lives. She said they should learn to respect their own individuality, developing strong will power and belief that they are capable of achieving their goal.
Talking about the threat of Cyber Crime all around, the Police resource person Smti Padma said that they should make use of the internet carefully and do not let themselves get tempted by the alluring virtual offers. They should develop sound peer groups, which would help them develop their personalities in the right direction. They should beware of the friends who tend to drag them into negativity. They should stick to the high moral values, Smti Padma advised.
The Resource person from ICDS, Smti Shanmuga Thai explained about the importance of the balanced diet at this stage of early adulthood. Sharing her experience, she said many girls become the victims of severe anemia due to carelessness in diet. She advised the young girls to restrain themselves from fast food culture and include the healthy food items in their diet, which are good to make immunity strong.
A Yoga session was also organised by the expert Smti Siromani, who demonstrated different postures and breathing exercises. Applauding the yoga practising girls, she highlighted the benefits of making yoga a routine in daily life.
Senior Teacher Smti Sibi Richard coordinated the programme, in which around 90 girls of class IX and X participated. The programme was organised by the ‘Samagra Shiksha’ Abhiyan’ UT Mission.
