Port Blair, Dec. 18: The RO Plant (Water ATM) installed at Burning Ghat at Ward No.7 under MPLADS fund of 16th Lok Sabha was inaugurated by Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Ex-Member of Parliament in the presence of Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Smti. Ms Smitha R, IAS, Secretary of Port Blair Municipal Council today. 

During the inauguration function, Smti. Amar Devi, Councillor, Ward No. 7 of Port Blair Municipal Council, Smti. Asha, Executive Engineer (Water), PBMC, other prominent residents of the area and a large number of the general public were present.

Similarly, another RO plant (Water ATM) has been installed at Dairy Farm junction, near Lord Ganesh Temple, Ward No.9 under MPLADS fund of 16th Lok Sabha was also inaugurated by the Ex-Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray in the presence of Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament of A&N Islands and Ms Smitha R, IAS, Secretary, Port Blair Municipal Council on 19th December 2022. 

In the inauguration function at Dairy Farm, Shri B. Padmanabhan, Councillor of Ward No. 15, Shri Y Joga Rao, Councillor of Ward No. 14, Shri V Ravichandran, Councillor Ward No. 9 of Port Blair Municipal Council, Smti. Asha, Executive Engineer (Water) PBMC, officials of PBMC besides other prominent residents of the area and a large number of the general public were present.

Addressing the gathering the Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuleeep Rai Sharma said that there was a demand for making available safe drinking water for the commuters in these locations. These Water ATMs will be of great use to the people visiting these areas. However, the MP requested the Secretary, PBMC and Executive Engineer (Water) PBMC present in the functions that the PBMC need to ensure proper upkeep and maintenance of these assets created out of public fund so that the basic objective for providing safe drinking water to the general public would be fulfilled in real manner. 

Both the works were carried out by the Port Blair Municipal Council being the executing agency of MPLADS work for which the long pending demand of the general public for having safe drinking water facilities at both the locations have been fulfilled.
