Port Blair, Dec. 20: A delegation of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association led by the General Secretary, Shri R.Rajendran recently visited the Diglipur area and met with the government employees working in various offices and schools. During the visit it was learnt that the employees are facing lot of difficulties working in the area which is not resolved by the concerned authorities.

The pathetic condition of the National Highway running from Mayabunder to Diglipur (Arial Bay) has put the government employees, students and general public in a troublesome situation and they are suffering daily while travelling from Diglipur to various other areas by bus or any other means. It was also brought to the notice of this Association that the Primary Health Centre at Diglipur is functioning with shortage of doctors and other vital services especially Paediatrician, Gynaecologist and Ultra Sound facilities due to which the patients have to travel to Mayabunder or Port Blair in such poor road condition.

The government employees posted at Diglipur area have complained regarding delay in sanctioning of leave by the concerned Heads of Department which is creating a lot of discontentment among them especially in Education and employees posted in Panchayati Raj Institutions. Employees of Education and Health Departments are being frequently transferred in the name of Intra Zonal Transfer by the Zonal authorities in a pick and choose manner which is causing mental agony to the employees and their family members to settle in one place even after being transferred by the Department on General Transfer. The Zonal authorities are also harassing the employees in the name of such biased Intra Zonal Transfers.
