Port Blair, Dec. 23: Police Training School, Prothrapur conducted a 15 days Self Defence Training for the students of GSS School Bathubasti. The program concluded with a demonstration function held on 23/12/2022 in which Shri Sanjay Kumar Jain, IPS, IGP(L&O) presided over as the Chief Guest of the function in presence of Shri S. Suresh Kumar, Principal, GSSS B/Basti, Shri M.K Shukla, Vice Principal (PTS) A&N Police and other teachers & students of the School.

The Self Defence Training was imparted to 39 students of Class IX comprising of 23 Girls and 16 Boys. The training was imparted by trained Dill Instructors of Police Training School (PTS). Training commenced on 29/11/2022 and comprised of 15 classes of 01-hour duration. The program concluded on 23/12/2022 and a demonstration of the self-defence techniques learnt during the course was presented by the students at the School ground.

Shri S. Suresh Kumar, Principal, GSSS B/Basti in his welcome address lauded the efforts of Police Department and Police Training School (PTS) Prothrapur in conducting such training for the students of the school. He informed about the positive physical as well as mental developments he had witnessed in the students who attended the training. He also requested to conduct such training programs for more students in the next academic session.

Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Kumar Jain, IPS, IGP(L&O) congratulated the School authorities for giving such opportunity to Police to organize such training for the benefit of students. He also appreciated the efforts of the team of PTS, Prothrapur for imparting the training to these students. He emphasized such training would tremendously help in building their confidence and overcoming their perceived fear. As a part of community outreach and to empower girls, more such self-defence training programme will be organised in near future. He wished all the students for a healthy life and bright career ahead.

The program concluded with the vote of thanks by Shri MK Shukla, Vice Principal PTS. He profusely thanked the school authorities for conducting such program involving the Police Training School. He expressed readiness of Police Department to impart training or to conduct any other activities for the benefit of the school students in future as well.
