Chief Guest While Praising the Young Sportspersons Cautions Regarding Drug Menace

Diglipur, Dec 29: The Sports lovers of the region were thrilled to watch the talents of the young sportspersons of the Govt. Senior Secondary School Subhashgram today. As the event was conducted after a gap of two years due to the pandemic, the enthusiasm of the students was obvious. Winning the 100 meters’ sprint, Rohit Shil became the fastest student of the oldest school of the zone, whereas Tamanna emerged as the best sprinter among girls.

Felicitating Suresh Minj and Tamanna for winning the Individual Championships in Boys and Girls category respectively, the chief Guest of the closing ceremony, Shri Lakshya Pandey, DANIPS in his address to the students said that the youth of these Islands are immensely talented and it was reflected in these sports competitions too. The youth of these Islands can compete at any level, he said. He appreciated the students for the beautiful display of Yoga, Pyramid formations with Aerobics skills. 

Taking charge as the zonal head of the Police recently, Shri Lakshya Pandey said that the youth should stay away from the menace of drugs. He said that the Police are dealing strictly with the anti-social elements, who are trying to push the innocent youth of the area into the clutches of drugs. 

The Chief Guest also Pandey sponsored a prize to one of the runners of the relay race, who showed his determination to rise and continue to run again, after falling down on the track.

Calling upon the students to excel in the sports field as well with the academics, the Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony, Deputy Education Officer Shri R.P. Pandey said that they may opt for a career in the sports sector also, as there is a vast scope. Imbibing the values of Sportsman spirit in their lives, the student can achieve success in their endeavors. He advised students to include Yoga in their daily routine to develop their personality holistically. 

In his address to the students, the Pradhan of the Gram Panchayat Subhashgram, Shri P.R. Singaram said the sports activities relieve stress and it helps students to concentrate on studies after getting refreshed through physical games. Appreciating the small kids of the Pre-Primary classes for their performance, Shri Singaram said that it’s a welcome step by the school to develop the aptitude in sports at younger age.

The organiser of the Annual Sports, the Principal of Government SSS, Subhashgram Shri M. Nehru said that the students have always made their presence felt whenever they got the opportunity at State and National Level Sports events.

The Physical Education teacher of the school Rahul Mohan informed that it is only because of the untiring efforts of the staff that it was possible to conduct more than 40 events from the pre-primary to class XII smoothly.

The Diglipur Gram Panchayat Pradhan, Smti Boopathi K.V. Raj, Up-Pradhan Shri Elan Chezhian, Shri Krishna Das, SMC member and a large number of students from the nearby schools and parents were present to witness the beautiful cultural programs along with the Sports competitions held today.
