Port Blair, Feb 1: A Chirag Kumar, a class VII student of Naval Children School Port Blair has become the second A&N Islands’ chess player after R Kashthuri Bhai to have opened International Rating, both in Standard and Rapid Formats of Chess game as per the latest International Ratings published by the World Chess Federation on 31st January 2023. He recently participated in a Rapid Tournament at Bengaluru and played reasonably well which led him to open International Rapid Rating.
And Shiv Kumar, a promising chess player from Mayabunder, N&M District, who recently participated in the 59th Senior National Chess Championship – 2022 held at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, New Delhi from 22.12.2022 to 03.01.2023 has also opened his International Rating in standard format and has become the first player from N&M District to open International Rating.
As per the latest International Ratings published on 31st January 2023, A Chirag Kumar’s International Rating in both Standard & Rapid Format is 1170 while Shiv Kumar’s Rating is 1115.
