Port Blair, Feb. 4: Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Disaster Management), A&N Administration has reviewed the Disaster Preparedness of all stakeholders of A&N Islands. This was followed by a field visit carried out by the Director (DM) alongwith Asst. Director (Log.) and Sr. Consultant, DDM to G.B. Pant Hospital, Directorate of Health Services, A&N Administration and reviewed the disaster preparedness and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of G. B. Pant Hospital.

The Director (DM) visited the Control Room, Emergency Ward and COVID Care Centre and took stock of preparedness. During the visit, a mock scenario on building collapsed at Beodnabad was also created and tested the response of medical emergency team and ambulance service of the Health Department which revealed that the medical team and ambulances reached the incident spot within the golden time period.      

Further, during the review of the preparedness of G.B. Pant Hospital, the Director (DM) advised the Nodal Officer (DM), Health Department to prepare additional medical resources for the propose of real time crisis/disaster and for the State - level Mock Disaster Management Exercise scheduled on 09.02.2023.
