Port Blair, Feb 9: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President, Shri. Rangalal Halder has requested the Administration to resolve the load shedding issue being faced by the islanders in the South Andaman District.

In his letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Halder said that due to frequent power cuts in various localities of South Andaman, the islanders were facing an immense disappointment towards the Electricity Department.

He stated that due to the issue of load shedding at odd times, at afternoon or at evening for longer hours, it becomes almost impossible for the islanders to carry on with the daily routine works as the electronic gadgets are becoming useless these days.

He mentioned that the students who were preparing for the upcoming Board exams merely find it difficult as they were forced to study in Candle light in evening & night hours.

Moreover, anti- social activities are also becoming active in the evening hours, taking advantage of the darkness; there might be a chance of loss of life due to theft, “he added.

He requested the Administration to take immediate steps in resolving the necessary genuine issue being faced by the Islanders within the weekly period of time.
