Port Blair, Feb 9: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS who is on a five day’s tour to Southern Group of Islands reached Campbell Bay today. On arrival at Campbell Bay Helipad, the Chief Secretary was accorded a warm welcome by the PRIs, Officers of different Departments and others. He was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner, Nicobars, Shri Yash Chaudhary, IAS, SP District Nicobars, Shri Manjeet, IPS.
During the visit, the Chief Secretary visited Govt. Senior Secondary School, Campbell Bay and interacted with the students and teachers. The students displayed various art & craft models prepared by them and the Chief Secretary appreciated them for their creativity.
The Chief Secretary visited Primary Health Centre and interacted with the doctors, paramedical staff and enquired about the functioning of the PHC and the facilities available there.
The Chief Secretary also visited Anganwadi Centre and interacted with Anganwadi Workers, mothers and children present at the centre.
Thereafter, he inspected Power House and interacted with Engineers and staff of Electricity Department manning the Power House and urged them to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
The Chief Secretary also held a meeting with local representatives and PRIs at Campbell Bay Guest House. He also urged the concerned officials to redress the grievances of the residents on priority basis.
The Chief Secretary also visited Health and Wellness Center, Chingen Basti, Campbell Bay and interacted with the staff.
Earlier, before his departure for Campbell Bay, the Chief Secretary visited Munak Village, Kamorta Island. He also visited Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Kamorta and interacted with the students and teachers. He also visited Anganwadi Center at Kamorta.
Tomorrow (Feb.10), the Chief Secretary is scheduled to visit Great Nicobar Biosphere Reserve and Indira Point.
