Port Blair, Feb 15: CPI (M) has conducted public meeting at Paschimsagar in North Andaman on 13th February, 2023 evening. Addressing the public meeting, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee, who was on a tour of North Andaman, said that the problems of the people are increasing day by day and there is no hope of resolving it considering the character of the BJP-led central government and its Administration in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.  Unemployment, price rise, non-repair of rural roads, lack of drinking water, power disruption, non-completion of the work of ATR/NH 4, increasing corruption, lack of boat services to outstations, lack of internet and mobile services in large parts of the union territory, illegal migration etc. are the issues the people in these islands are facing. He said that both the BJP government and the Congress MP have failed to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the islanders.

Shri Ramjiban Sarkar, Secretary, CPI (M) Kalighat Area Committee, Shri AVA Samad, Secretary, Diglipur Area Committee, Shri SR Mridha, State Secretary, All India Kisan Sabha also addressed the meeting. Shri Harimohan Mondal presided over the meeting.  The villagers of Paschimsagar brought to the notice of the Party a number of demands of the people of the area. D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) assured the villagers that their problems and demands will be taken up with the authorities concerned.

CPI (M) Diglipur Area Committee conducted a public meeting at Sitanagar in Diglipur on 14th February, 2023 evening. Addressing the public meeting, D. Ayyappan, State Secretary, CPI (M) condemned the Income Tax raids conducted in the offices of the BBC at Delhi and Mumbai and said that any kind of criticism and opposition against BJP government and Sangh Parivar is being silenced by engaging central agencies like CBI, Income Tax, ED, NIA, etc. He further said that the country is slowly moving towards autocratic rule reminiscent of the Internal Emergency period of 1975-77. This tendency on the part of BJP and Sangh Parivar needs to be opposed by a united fight by all secular and democratic forces in the country.    

Party leaders Ramjiban Sarkar, Dilip Karmakar, Sunil Bepari, AVA Samad and SR Mridha also addressed the meeting. Shri Sukhranjan Sil presided over the meeting.
