Port Blair, Feb 15: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Island, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma today praised the Andaman & Nicobar Police Force for their excellent service. During the inauguration programme for Public Police, an NGO at Tagore Government College of Education, he commended the police force for being one of the best in the country.

He also stated that the Andaman police have received many accolades in the past, with many police stations in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands being declared the best in the entire country.

Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma noted that the people of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands are proud of the A&N Police force because of the outstanding work they have done during the tsunami disaster, the Covid-19 pandemic and other cases of extreme emergency.

He further expressed his appreciation for the timing of the launch of the Public Police, NGO in Andaman and Nicobar Island, as he anticipates a significant boost to the economy and the arrival of foreign tourists with the start of the International Airport.

However, he also expressed concern that this could lead to the entry of social evils like drugs and other crimes. In such cases, the pressure on the police force would increase and NGOs like Public Police could play a crucial role to bridge the gap between police and public.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the Member of Parliament inaugurated the Andaman & Nicobar Chapter of Public Police.

Several other guests were present on the dais, including Mr. Deo Datta, former Chairman and CEO, Noida Authority, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, General AKS Chandele, National President Defence, Public Police, Dr. T. Elangovan, Chairman Tamil Nadu, Pondy & A&N Public Police, Dr. Ram Karan Verma, Central Joint Secretary, Mr. Surendra Prahladka Chairman, Public Police A & N Chapter, Mohd. Tabraiz, Executive Chairman of Public Police Andaman & Nicobar State Chapter and Mr. Tanveer Singh, General Secretary Public Police A&N Chapter.

The Chairman of the Public Police National Committee, Retired Justice K. G. Balakrishnan, Former Chief Justice of India and Ex-Chairman National Human Right Commission had sent a video note, which was played during the programme.

Addressing the gathering Mr. Deo Datta, former Chairman and CEO, Noida Authority, Noida, Uttar Pradesh and present General Secretary of Public Police NGO expressed his appreciation for the beauty of Andaman & Nicobar Island and the kind of development being undertaken by the Prime Minister of India. He expressed confidence that in 15 to 20 years, Andaman & Nicobar Island will become one of the major tourism destinations.

Mr. Surendra Prahladka, the Chairman of Public Police Andaman & Nicobar State Chapter expressed his hope that the personalities of Public Police in the national level will support the Andaman Nicobar Chapter in future endeavours and the NGO will be able to do many welfare works for the people of Andaman & Nicobar.

The Executive Chairman of Public Police Andaman & Nicobar State Chapter, Mohd. Tabraiz, and Dr. T. Elangovan, Chairman Tamil Nadu, Pondy & A&N Public Police, also spoke at the event. The General Secretary, Mr. Tanveer Singh proposed the vote of thanks.
