Port Blair, Feb 17: The Model Career Centre (Employment Exchange), Directorate of Employment & Training organised a ‘Rozgar Evam Swarozgar Mela’ in the community hall of Gram Panchayat, Guptapara yesterday. Shri B. S Jaglan, IAS Secretary (Labour, Employment and Training) also attended the Programme. While addressing the gathering, Shri Jaglan elucidated that the main objective of the ‘Rozgar evam Swarozgar Mela’ is to provide a platform between the private employers and jobseekers and also to disseminate information about various self-employment schemes being implemented by different departments for the benefit of unemployed youths. He instructed the officials of Deptt of Employment to keep a record of participants who are willing to take up self-employment schemes so as to provide skill oriented training to the youths.

Shri Venkatesh Ch. Principal, ITI highlighted various skill development training schemes which are being imparted to the unemployed youths under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana-PMKVY in these Islands and also expounded the need of soft skilled training and technical skill up gradation to the rural youths to enable them to get gainful employment.

Earlier, Shri Durlav Das, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Guptapara welcomed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of the Department for organizing Rozgaar and Swarozgaar Mela and appealed the gathering to utilise the opportunity. Shri Prakash Adhikari, Member Zilla Parishad also spoke on the occasion and requested to set-up a training centre relating to tailoring and beautician for the benefit of rural youths of Guptapara village. Shri Nirmal, Samity Member was also present on the occasion. Altogether 150 prospective rural unemployed youths of Guptapara and nearby villages were benefited out of the programme and 17 unemployed youth were shortlisted for employment.
