National Science Day to be Celebrated with the Theme ‘Global Science for Global Wellbeing’

Port Blair, Feb 17: In the memory of Raman Effect discovered by Prof. C V Raman, National Science Day celebrations are organized throughout the country on 28th February, every year to inculcate and foster the knowledge and awareness of science among the masses. To celebrate this occasion in a befitting manner, various activities of science popularization are proposed to be conducted for the school students. The Science Week will commence from Feb 22, 2023 onwards which will be followed by National Science Day celebration on Feb 28, 2023. The theme of this year’s celebration is ‘Global Science for Global Wellbeing’.

To celebrate the occasion befittingly, the Science Centre Port Blair will be organizing the following programme/competitions: -

1) Meet the Scientist - College level

2)Bird Watching Programme - Selected student through school

3) Craft Models (best out of waste) - (models to be made from waste materials with innovative ideas) - Class VI to IX std.

4) Story Telling Competition topic "Importance of National Science Day" - prepare a self-video narrating the tonic for maximum two minutes’ duration. - Class VI to IX std. (Online mode)

5) Painting Competition - prepare a painting on the theme "Science & Future" in a quarter size chart paper - Primary Level Class I to V (Online mode)

6) Show your Talent - prepare a self-video showcasing special talent in the field of playing musical instrument, poetry, mimicry or any unique talent for maximum two minutes’ duration - Primary Level Class! to V (Online mode)

Interested students participating in the Craft Model may submit their models at Science Centre by Feb 25, 2023. For students participating in Story Telling Competition, Painting & Show Your Talent Competition, they may upload the self-made videos & painting through WhatsApp No: 9933207860 alongwith mandatory details such as Name, Class, School and phone number latest by Feb 25, 2023. Further, students have been advised to wear proper uniform while preparing the video.

Based on the competition, the best performer as 1st, 2nd, 3rd & consolation shall be awarded with suitable prizes on ‘National Science Day’ to be held on Feb 28, 2023 at Science Centre, Port Blair.
