Port Blair, Feb 19: An interactive session on ‘Healthy Living’ was organized in the conference hall of DBRAIT on Feb. 15, 2023 in which Professor and Head, Department of Radiography and Former Vice-Chancellor Kings George Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, Prof. (Dr.) MLB Bhatt addressed the students. He said, a healthy lifestyle, in particular, a healthy diet coupled with one of the biggest gifts by India to the world- ‘Yog’ is a holistic therapy for a healthy, long and active life.

Prof Bhatt explained the scientific significance of getting up early in the morning and taking the right and balanced meals at the right times during the day. He urged the students to rely on staple and local fresh foods which are cheap and easily available and in abundant to nourish the human body instead of junk and unhealthy foods that are expensive and puts one’s health at risk. As per WHO, 45% of deaths are due to Cardio Vascular Diseases in the age group of 40-69 year.

He said, Research shows that eating habits and healthy behaviours are connected to academic achievement. Emphasizing that ‘Healthy students are better learner’, Prof. Bhatt also advised the students to abstain from any kind of drug abuse by learning from examples rather not by experimenting.

About 130 students attended the session and were benefitted. Earlier Dr. Shrabani Mallick, Student Advisor welcomed the gathering and coordinated the program.
