Port Blair, Feb 19: Campus Bird Count 2023 is an international event coordinated by Andaman Avians Club (AAC) in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Today morning, the Chief Secretary (A&N Admin) Shri. Keshav Chandra participated in the Campus Bird Count 2023 held at the Secretariat Campus and Chief Secretary’s Residence.

The Chief Secretary along with AAC members recorded birds at the garden of his residence. A total of 16 bird species were recorded in this activity including 2 endemic species in both the campuses. Brown Shrike, a winter visitor was also reported.

The AAC members namely Mrs. Siwanart Mallik (Vice President) Mr. D Kishore Kumar (Co-Ordinator CBC), Mrs. Padumma Gohain and Mr. Reuben Kurian Paul participated in this event. After the event Mr. Kishore gave an insight of the goals and club events conducted every year, which was appreciated by Chief Secretary.

The event was concluded by Mr. Reuben K Paul by a Vote of Thanks and presenting the official Club Cap and a bird booklet by the club to Chief Secretary. The Chief Secretary’s participation has elevated the event to new heights in these Islands.

The Campus Bird Count is an event conducted by ‘Bird Count India’ across the country during the 3rd weekend annually. AAC has continued to be a part of CBC since last 6 years. This year special emphasis is given to the local participation and many campuses are planned under this event. Andaman Avians Club looks forward to the maximum participation for this event.
