Port Blair, March 5: Under the National Solar Mission, the Government of India has set a target of installing of 40 GW Grid connected solar rooftop systems (GCRTS) in the country. MNRE, Government of India, in collaboration with the Electricity Department, A&N Administration has introduced 40% subsidy for the installation of grid connected rooftop solar power plants for residential consumers in the A&N Islands. The achievement till date in the A&N Islands is 4.15 MW in the government buildings, 30 KW in the residential buildings and 55 KW in the commercial buildings under South Andaman, which have already been installed and synchronized with the Electricity Department Grid.

Presently, Electricity Department is in the process of empanelling the vendors for design, supply, erection, testing, installation and commissioning, including warranty, comprehensive operation & maintenance for 5 years of grid connected rooftop PV Plant with hybrid inverter, Net Meter and battery storage system. For easy application process, a state USRP portal, ‘usrp.andaman.gov.in’ has been developed by Electricity Department for submission of applications. In addition to this Ministry of New & Renewable Energy has also designed and launched a National Portal, www.solarrooftop.gov.in which facilitates the consumers with simplified procedure for installation of rooftop solar power plants through any vendor empanelled in the national portal. The portal enables online tracking of the entire process starting from registering the applications to release of subsidy in residential consumers (beneficiaries) bank account.
