Port Blair, March 5: A ‘ClothShare’ event was today organised at by Humane Touch in association with #Bageecha – an initiative of Andaman Chronicle, Sanjay Meshack, Ex-Councillor, PBMC and Cute Cottons Boutique at 3.00 pm at #Bageecha, Libra Cottage, Brichgunj Chowk, Prothrapur.
The event saw an overwhelming response from donors who had donated clothes in huge quantity and also the beneficiaries who had turned out in large number today. It was smiles and blessing all around the venue, which the beneficiaries having a word of praise for the donors and organisers, carrying back smiles on their faces. The free clothes distribution program ensured that no one went without proper clothing.
The program started with a brief note on Cloth Share by Br P Mujib Rehman, President, Humane Touch. In his address he briefed the gathering about various social and public issues taken up by the organization. Shri. Denis Giles of Bageecha and Shri Sanjay Meshack, Ex-Councillor highlighted the importance of the Clotheshare initiative and applauded the efforts of the organizers in promoting the idea of community support and urged people to continue supporting such initiatives.
Till now this initiative has reached 23 villages viz. Shore Point, Mathura, Lamba Pahar, Namunaghar, Chouldhari, Nayashahar, Bambooflat, Hope Town, Junglighat, Habdipur, Mathura, Narsayya Pahad, Baratang, Lal Bhijan, Papitha Pahad, Ganna Dabla, Kalapahad at Mayabunder and Kaushalyanagar at Rangat. Nearly around 9300 needy peoples have benefited from these programs. Humane Touch along with Bageecha, Sanjay Meshack Ex-Councillor and Cute Cottons has conveyed their special thanks to the donors for their support in donating clothes for helping the needy.
To carry forward the ClotheShare program to other rural villages of these Islands, Humane Touch has called upon all to donate used good clothes, so that it can be distributed to the needy.
