Port Blair, March 13: The Annual General Body Meeting of the South Andaman Teachers’ Branch of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association was held on 11.03.2023 at the Auditorium of Tagore Govt. College of Education, Port Blair. Shri Ashok Kumar Tiwari, Vice Principal, Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Port Blair graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Speaking at the Inaugural Session, Shri A.K. Tiwari urged the members of the Association to be united and fight for their rights through an appropriate platform and also told the members to work for the betterment of the society. He also expressed his concern on the decreasing number of students in schools while appreciating the efforts and hardwork done by the teachers during the Corona pandemic period.

Addressing the meeting Shri R.Rajendran, General Secretary of the Association congratulated the members of South Andaman Teachers’ Branch for successfully organizing the Annual General Body meeting and asked the branch committee to work for the issues of teachers.

Shri S.L.Vinjit, Asst. General Secretary also reiterated the importance of being united and narrated the glorious history of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association in achieving various demands of the govt. employees including the teachers.

In the General Body meeting, a few members of the Association who had retired and on the verge of retirement were also felicitated during the Opening Session which included Shri Subhan Ali, GTT (retd.), Shri Suresh Singh, Librarian (Retd.) and Smt. Anitha Nath, PGT.

Earlier, Shri H.B. Choudhary, Vice President of the branch welcomed the gathering and told that this branch of NGOs’ Association has always been in the forefront for the issues of teachers and will remain so in the future.

Shri P. Jay Murthy, Secretary of the Branch presented the working report for the previous year where he explained about the functioning, activities and the achievements of the branch.

Shri Prasanth Vishwakarma, Treasurer presented the Audited Accounts report in the meeting. Shri R.Rama Rao presented the Condolence Resolution after which the meeting paid homage to the leaders, teachers and other govt. employees who had died during the intervening period.

The Secretary report and the Accounts report was unanimously passed in the meeting after discussion. Several resolutions were adopted during the meeting while the members including Smt. Jothi Malar, Smt. Anitha Nath, Shri B.N.Mandal and many others also participated in the discussion and raised various issues pertaining to the teachers which were also included in the draft resolutions.

The meeting unanimously elected the new Committee of SATB for the year 2023. Shri R.Papa Rao, President and Smt. Nasreen Begum, Vice President of the Association were also present in the meeting. Shri Gopal Ch. Dey, Organising Secretary proposed the Vote of Thanks. A good number of teachers from Port Blair and South Andaman area attended the meeting.
