Port Blair, March 13: The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) on Monday held a protest in front of Gandhi Bhawan, Port Blair against Billionaire Gautam Adani and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A heavy police force was deployed at Gandhi Bhawan to stop the protestors. The police also installed barricades to prevent the protesters from heading towards the Raj Niwas.
The Protest was led by ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder and ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker. The Congress leaders raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and business tycoon Gautam Adani. Protesters were seen holding Banner and Party Flags scaling over barricades set up by Police under the pressure of Andaman Nicobar Administration to thwart the demonstration. The Party Workers demanded a probe into the allegations of fraud against the Adani Group in the Hindenburg Research Report.
Speaking on the Occasion, Mr. Halder alleged that there is no rule of law functioning in A&N Islands and that A&N Administration is running the Islands like a "Dictator". He Condemned the Police Action of stopping the Peaceful Rally.
He further said that the Prime Minister favoured Gautam Adani while doing nothing for the ordinary people. He added that the Modi Government helped Adani with all the resources and made him become the World's second richest Person and now BJP is running away from the probe.
Mr. Bhasker said “Narendra Modi-led Government in the Centre has put the hard-earned money of common people kept in the SBI and LIC at risk, just to favor his Corporate friends like Adani. PM Modi should also think of the common people and he should apologize and give explanation to the public as to on what basis he has handed over the money of common people to his friend Adani.”
He further said that their leader Rahul Gandhi had time and again cautioned the Central Government over various issues, including financial matters but the Central Government did not pay any heed to it.
The NSUI State President Mr. M.A Sajid said that the Adani Group of Companies had wiped off its stock market value after the claims of market manipulation and financial fraud has been forwarded in the Hindenberg Report. He said that only an Independent Investigation through Joint Parliamentary Committee will save LIC, SBI, and other Govt. Institutions keeping the faith and Interest of the Account holders and investors of the Govt. Agencies.
The Mahila Congress South Andaman Co-coordinator Ms. Zubaida Begum also said that the Modi Government has to face Severe Consequences in supporting his selected industrialist friends by Commencing Fraud on the Government agencies.
