Port Blair, March 13: During the Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma’s recent visits to various South Andaman villages, a large number of Islanders have raised the issue of continuous load shedding and frequent power cuts in the entire Port Blair and South Andaman region, during the time of final exams in almost all the schools.
In response to the issue raised by the locals, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma took immediate action and met with the Superintending Engineer of the Electricity Department. During the meeting, he urged the Superintending Engineer to take necessary steps to stop load shedding so that students can study comfortably and focus on their exams.
Expressing his deep concern on this issue he informed the SE of the Electricity Department that not everyone can afford inverters at home, and the frequent power cuts have affected the students' studies, causing a lot of inconvenience to them.
As a result of the meeting, the SE Electricity Department assured Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma that the 3 MW shortfall of power would be met within 10 to 15 days, and there won't be any load shedding after that.
Moreover, the Member of Parliament had earlier urged the administration to install 10 MW of additional standby DG set to handle any future shortfall in power production.
