Port Blair, March 15: APWD Karmachari Sangh an affiliated association of Andaman Nicobar Rajya Karmachari Mahasangh (ANRKM), BMS has called Hunger Strike from 13th March 2023 at Tiranga Park for regularisation of DRMs. All the members of AKS and ANRKM first visited the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and garlanded the statue and proceeded to Tiranga Park to choose the path of Satyagraha as shown by Mahatma Gandhi.

Four members of AKS were honoured who sat on Hunger Strike for twelve hours and which was replaced in the evening with four male members and it was continued till evening of 14th March 2023. In the meantime, several round of discussions were carried out with Administration and Chief Engineer’s office to pave a solution to the demands under the initiative of Shri. Vishal Jolly and Shri. M. Veeranna. 

Finally, it was intimated by the Office of the Chief Engineer that the matter of regularisation is in positive consideration as assured by the Secretary (PWD) and the same was declared by Shri. Vishal Jolly at Tiranga Park. The committee of AKS decided to withdraw the hunger strike and gave juice to the persons who were in Hunger Strike under the instructions of Shri. Sunil Ghosh, State General Secretary. With the support of Administration and employees it was resolved calmly.

The committee expressed gratitude to the Administration, Police, Print & Digital Media, all the State committee members of BMS and office bearers of Andaman Nicobar Rajya Karmachari Mahasangh and it all affiliated associations who extended their support for the successful conduct of Hunger Strike and its conclusion in a positive manner.
