Port Blair, March 16: Nagarpalika Swachhtha Karmachari Sangh (NSKS) an affiliated association of Andaman Nicobar Rajya Karmachari Mahasangh (ANRKM), BMS was on Kaam Roko Andolan from 13th March 2023 protesting in front of PBMC Head Quarter. The strike continued till 15th March and on 15th March Shri. Vishal Jolly, NEC Member, BJP visited and assured to take up the matter with Chief Secretary for early redressal. In the meantime, several social workers, NGOs, Ex-MP Shri. Bishnu Pada Ray also visited the place of protest for assuring and extending support to the protestors.

In the evening, Shri. Vishal Jolly took the delegation of BMS, Andaman Nicobar Rajya Karmachari Mahasangh (ANRKM), Nagarpalika Swachhtha Karmachari Sangh to Chief Secretary and presented the issues of regularisation of Sanitary workers and grant of 1/30th pay to all Muster roll / DRMs.

The Chief Secretary given a patient hearing and assured to grant 1/30th to all DRMs in the coming days. On the regularisation, a committee will be constituted involving representative of ANRKM, BMS. The entire team of BMS, ANRKM and its all affiliated associations express gratitude to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Chief Secretary & the team, for arriving at a noble decision for the welfare of the working class.

Shri. Vishal Jolly declared the assurance before the employees of PBMC in presence of Shri. M. Veeranna, State President, BMS, Shri. Sunil Ghosh, State General Secretary, BMS, Shri. S. Biju Pillai, General Secretary, ANRKM, Shri. Vijay Kumar, Vice President, ANRKM, Shri. Anoop Gopinathan, Organising Secretary, ANRKM alongwith Shri. Thirumuniyan, Secretary and entire team of NSKS and strike observing employees.

All the members welcomed the decision and called off the strike and praised the efforts of NSKS and Shri. Vishal Jolly.
