Port Blair, April 5: Shri. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Committee Member, BJP, today met the Secretary- Social Welfare, A & N Administration and raised the issue of serious delay in receipt of Old Age Pension, Widow Pension, Destitute Allowances and Handicap Allowances. He pointed out that for most of these beneficiaries, this amount is the only source of livelihood and therefore even a week’s delay in disbursement of these allowances creates a huge burden upon them. He urged to ensure that these benefits reach the beneficiaries well within the 1st or 2nd day of each & every month.

Jolly further raised another important issue of delay of supply of ration items to all the Anganwadi centres, especially the distantly located centres. He pointed out that large number of people from several places have pointed out this issue and in order to maintain the sanctity of social welfarism, immediate steps be taken to ensure the ration items reaches well in advance.

The Secretary- Social Welfare, A & N Administration positively considered all the issues raised by him and agreed to take positive and needful steps in this regard at the earliest.
