Port Blair, April 6: The Deputy Commissioner, N&M Andaman, Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS alongwith AC (MB), GM (NHIDCL) inspected the stretch of NH-4 from Panighat to Thoratang today. During the visit, directions were issued to the Contractor to expedite and complete the construction work of the left out stretch in view of the upcoming monsoon. It was also directed to construct earthen drains along the NH-4 where forest clearance is to be taken, so that water logging issue does not arise in monsoon season and the motorability of the road is maintained.

Further, at Harinagar, the Deputy Commissioner accompanied by Smti. Shibani Mazumder, Pramukh Panchayat Samiti, Mayabunder and Shri Manojit Halder, Pradhan, Harinagar visited the newly constructed Amrit Sarovar alongwith inspection of suitable sites for ANIIDCO Petrol Pump. Thereafter, he visited Korangnallah which is a potential water source for Gram Panchayats viz. Basantipur, Harinagar and Swadeshnagar. He also visited the newly operational ring well at Shantipur village, Swadeshnagar which will cater drinking water to around 800 families.
