Port Blair, April 10: The Directorate of Industries, A&N Administration organized a short term Skill Development Training Program on ‘Handicrafts (Coconut Shell & Wood) products’ at Gram Panchayat Mithakhari from March 15, 2023. Altogether, 22 candidates participated in the training program and were imparted basic skill and knowledge for making handicrafts, thus creating self-employment opportunities and avenues for their livelihood.

The training programme concluded today with a valedictory function followed by awareness programme, in which, the Officials of the Directorate of Industries disseminated information on various schemes implemented by the Directorate of Industries. The handicraft products produced during the training was showcased which received immense appreciation from PRI representatives and villagers.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Mohammed Safiq, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Mithakhari appreciated the efforts of Industries Department and all the participants for making variety of handicraft products and advised them to apply the skills obtained during the course of the training program for the betterment of their livelihood.
