Port Blair, April 10: Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ACCI) has submitted various representations to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, requesting his intervention to resolve several issues that are hampering the economic growth of the Islands and adversely impacting various sectors such as trade, commerce, tourism, hospitality etc. However, despite the several representations / requests over the last 6 years, no action has been taken in this regard. On the contrary, several unfair decisions such as substantial increase in circle rate, registration charges, power tariff have occurred over the last many years. It is extremely important to resolve these issues which will take the islands on the path of progress and development like the rest of India.

The major long pending issues are mentioned hereunder:

1) Stoppage of Diversion / conversion of land.

2) Steep hike in power tariff.

3) Arbitrary increase in circle rate, registration charges of A&N Islands and rates re valuation of lease deed & gift deed on new circle rates.

4) Registration of Apartments.

5) Long delay in building plan approval from Andaman Nicobar Command (ANC).

6) Availability / extraction of local sand & timber for islanders.

7) Non availability of industrial estate and issues faced by hollow block and crusher industry.

8) Registration of vehicles, NOC for Swaraj Dweep & Shaheed Dweep, online and state permit.

9) One-time exemption of buildings in violation of building plans and CRZ.

10) Review of Master Plan, Building Plan, Town & Country Planning Act.

11) Port, infrastructure and equipment.
