Port Blair, April 12: An Orientation-cum-Refresher training programme on e-office for officials of A&N Administration was organized by the Department of IT in association with the National Informatics Centre, New Delhi in the conference hall of the Secretariat today. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS was the chief guest on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary congratulated all the Officers for implementing e-office seamlessly in a very short time in A&N Islands. He said that the advantage of working in e-office system is that one can access and dispose of files sitting anywhere. Mentioning about the importance of legacy files, the Chief Secretary desired that legacy files should be scanned and stored properly. He further cautioned that not a single file should be missed/lost while switching over to e-office. The Chief Secretary mentioned that refresher training is very important and urged for updating themselves in e-office procedures/apps.

Mentioning that there are many features available in the software, the Chief Secretary encouraged the officials to get in depth knowledge on the software and its functions which will make the work easier and quicker. The Chief Secretary also desired that all the Extension Offices should also be brought under the ambit of e-office system. He also congratulated the team from New Delhi who had imparted training on e-office to the officials.

In his address, the Secretary (IT), Shri Balwan Singh Jaglan, IAS informed that since the implementation of the e-office, almost all the files have been converted into e-files. Regarding the training programme, he said, the training was successfully conducted by the officials of NIC New Delhi who imparted training to the Officials of A&N Administration dealing with e-files.

The Project Leader, Ms Surabhi through a Power Point Presentation enlightened the gathering about e-office with special emphasis about the new version of e-signing in e-files. Ms Nidhi and Shri Jagdeep, Training Implementation and Roll-out Team Members of e-office, NIC New Delhi were also present on the occasion. The training programme ended with the vote of thanks proposed by the State Informatics Officer, A&N Islands, Shri G. Sahayaraj.
