Port Blair, May 23: A movement called ‘LiFE’ was announced by Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, GoI at COP 26 Glasgow is being led by the Prime Minister. LiFE, which stands for Life Style for the Environment, aspires to spread a healthy and sustainable way of life based on the traditional Indian ideals of moderation and conservation. 

 

In connection with this, the Department of Science and Technology, A&N Administration organised an awareness programme on May 21 during which, cloth bags were distributed at Jungligat Sunday Market as part of Mission Life Movement 2023, which aims to end the use of single-use plastic in the A&N Islands.

About 200 cloth bags were given out to the general public by the Department of Science and Technology during the awareness initiative. The Department of Science and Technology drew attention to the negative impacts of single-use plastic, encouraged people to carry cloth bags, and forbade the use of single-use carry bags.
