Port Blair, May 28: The Congress Campaign Committee Chairman, A&N Islands Mr. TSG Bhasker on Friday wrote a letter to the Hon'ble Lt. Governor requesting him to give necessary directions for issuance of OBC Certificates for the purpose of employment under A&N Administration.

In the letter, Mr. Bhasker highlighted that jobs are provided to the qualified youths on the basis of certain criteria laid down by Administration in which one of the criteria is submission of OBC Certificate.

He stated that in order to get a job reserved for the OBC, the candidate has to obtain OBC certificate on the basis of their annual income, income from properties and other family backgrounds and the same has to be verified by the Investigation Agencies and after submitting the report, OBC certificate is issued from the office of the Deputy Commissioner. It takes at least 2 months to get the OBC certificate.

"It is painful to say that every department is asking the OBC Candidates to submit their original OBC certificate along with their applications for recruitment of posts which can be submitted to only one department at a time. In case a candidate wants to apply for more than one post, they are unable to produce the original OBC certificate which has put the candidates in great difficulty", added Mr. Bhasker.

Hence, Mr. Bhasker requested the Hon'ble Lt. Governor to give necessary directions to all departments that they should accept a copy of OBC certificate during recruitment process and also to direct the DC, South Andaman to issue OBC certificate to the candidates immediately so that they can apply for the posts.
