Port Blair, June 4: Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Member of Parliament has raised a significant concern regarding the refund of fare differences to passengers in the event of ship changes for the sailing between Port Blair and Campbell Bay.

In a letter addressed to the Director of Shipping Services he said that recently it has been brought to his attention that the scheduled sailing of MV Nalanda on 6th June for Campbell Bay has been replaced with MV Campbell Bay. However, the fare difference between these two ships ranges from approximately Rs. 400 to Rs. 500 for a journey between Port Blair and Campbell Bay. “Consequently, passengers travelling on MV Nalanda would have to pay an additional Rs. 2000 for a four-member family compared to MV Campbell Bay,” he said.

He further mentioned that in light of the change of ship for the scheduled sailing, it is reasonable that passengers are refunded the fare difference upon the presentation of their tickets during the sailing itself in the alternative ship.

The Member of Parliament requested the Director of the Directorate of Shipping Services to thoroughly investigate this matter and ensure that the fare difference is promptly returned to the affected passengers upon submission of their tickets.
