Port Blair, June 6: Almost a month has passed since the Central Board of Secondary Education has release the results of Class X and Class XII. The surprising thing is that in spite of so many days after the declaration of the results, the Directorate of Education, A&N Administration is not able to decide on the Island toppers.

It has always been a keen interest of the Islanders to know the list of Island Toppers, who have struggled their way to attain the position. Such students not only top the list but also serve as a source of inspiration to their juniors, through their story of preparation for the exams and the challenges they were able to overcome.

Usually the list of toppers is released within couple of weeks by the Directorate of Education, A&N Administration. But this year there has been an undue delay in releasing the toppers list, thus raising suspicion on the intention behind holding it so long.

People allege that the delay in releasing the results may be to hide the poor performance of government schools and escape the enquiry by the higher level officials. Whatever be the case, it is expected that the Directorate of Education comes out with the list of Island Toppers, giving a fair chance to the successful candidates to celebrate their victory and serve as inspiration to other students.
