Industries Department Implements Centrally Sponsored Scheme ‘PM FME’

Port Blair, June 8: The Department of Industries, A&N Administration has been implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme ‘Pradhan Mantri Scheme for Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM FME)’ launched under Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan with the objective to strengthen backward/ forward linkages, common infrastructure, packaging, branding & marketing of products of micro food processing enterprises.

Individual micro food processing units would be provided Credit Linked Capital Subsidy at the rate of 35% of the eligible project cost with the maximum limit of Rs. 10, 00,000 per unit. The scheme would also support clusters and groups such as FPOs/ SHGs/ Producers Cooperatives along with their entire value chain for sorting, grading, assaying, storage, common processing, packaging, marketing, processing of agro-produce and testing laboratories. Grant at the rate of 35% with credit linkage and training support would be provided. The scheme also proposes to provide support to SHGs in the seed capital and support for capital investment and training and hand holding supports.

Support for common infrastructure would be provided to FPOs, SHGs, and Cooperatives any Govt. Agency or private enterprises. This support includes creation of premises for assaying of agriculture produce, sorting, grading, warehouse and cold storage at the farm gate; common processing facility for processing One District One Product (ODOP) produce and incubation centre.

Marketing and branding support would be provided under the scheme. Following the One District One Product (ODOP) approach, marketing and branding support would only be provided for such product at the State/ Regional level.
