Port Blair, June 8: In a bid to address the concerns of unemployed youths in Andaman and Nicobar Islands the Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, has written a letter to the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration, urging for provision of swimming lessons for aspiring candidates. The request was made after the Forest Department advertised certain job posts that require swimming skills as a mandatory qualification.

In his letter he added that a large number of candidates who are eager to learn swimming have approached the Government run Swimming Pool, located in the Netaji Stadium. But they did not get entry inside the pool because it has been stipulated that only individuals who already possess swimming skills will be permitted to use the swimming pool.

He added that it is crucial to consider the plight of unemployed youths who are actively seeking job opportunities that require swimming proficiency. It is essential to provide them with opportunities to learn and practice swimming in a safe environment so that they can apply for positions that mandate swimming skills.

He requested the Chief Secretary to allocate two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening specifically for candidates who wish to learn swimming. By designating this time slot at the swimming pool located in the Netaji Stadium, these individuals will have the chance to acquire the necessary swimming skills required for various job applications, he said.

The Member of Parliament also requested to issue necessary directions to the Department of Sports to provide a sufficient number of swimming coaches to help local youths in learning swimming in a fast and correct way.
