Port Blair, June 8: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands to take up the matter of making MSc Nursing seats available for the students of Andaman & Nicobar Islands in Mainland Colleges like other courses, with the concerned Ministry.

In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the Member of Parliament mentioned that the Andaman & Nicobar Administration has been commendably allocating a large number of seats in various colleges across mainland India to accommodate students from our Islands. This initiative has been a source of great relief for local students, as it expands their educational opportunities beyond the limited avenues available in these Islands.

He added that although Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing) seats are being allocated to mainland colleges, no seats are available for Master of Science in Nursing (MSc Nursing) course.

The Member of Parliament said that pursuing MSc Nursing on their own, away from the Islands, poses considerable challenges for students due to economic and geographical constraints.

In light of this situation, he requested Hon’ble Lt. Governor’s intervention in taking up this matter with the concerned Ministry to make MSc Nursing seats available for the students of Andaman & Nicobar Islands in Mainland Colleges like other courses.

He added that there are a large number of enthusiastic students eager to pursue MSc Nursing as it holds promising career prospects for them. “By providing accessible seats for this course, we can empower local students and enable them to contribute to the healthcare sector effectively,” he added.
