Port Blair, June 15: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President, Mr. Rangalal Halder has demanded the Administration for urgent repairs of the STS Bus unit operating in the Mayabunder and Rangat regions.

In a letter addressed to the Directorate of Transport, A&N Administration, Halder highlighted the condition of the STS Buses in the aforementioned areas which are deteriorating significantly with mechanical problems such as faulty engines, malfunctioning brakes and suspension issues resulting in disruptions of transport services.

He said that the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the STS buses have fallen below acceptable levels as the interior of the buses often remains uncleaned, with broken seats and stained floors.

In the persisting monsoon, many of the passengers experience problems due to water leakage through the holes on the rooftop of the buses or windows which drenches the commuters.

He said that the current situation not only reflects the poor services of STS but also compromises the comfort and well-being of passengers.

Halder has suggested for regular maintenance checks and overall system analysis to prevent unexpected breakdowns and ensure passenger safety during the time of travel.
